DIPOLOG CITY, April 3, 2024 – The 2024 Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) Solidarity Meeting began this afternoon at Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS), marking the start of an eagerly anticipated event in regional journalism. Dr. Eugenio B. Penales, the CLMD Chief, addressed the audience, emphasizing unity and healthy competition among attendees. His words resonated with the audience, sparking inspiration and anticipation for the upcoming competition.

Dr. Rodolf John Rodriguez, the RSPC Focal Person for Region IX-Zamboanga Peninsula, followed, outlining the schedule of the 3-day event. He detailed the various competitions scheduled at the venue, highlighting the importance of these contests in refining journalistic skills among learners.

The individual categories for this year’s RSPC are: Photojournalism, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Colum Writing, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Sports Writing, Science and Technology Writing, and News Writing. Meanwhile, the group categories are: TV Script Writing and Broadcasting, Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting, Online Publishing, and Collaborative Desktop Publishing.

Dr. Nur N. Hussien, Chief of the Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) of Dipolog City Division, welcomed delegations from across the region, assuring them of Dipolog City’s readiness to host the 2024 RSPC. He addressed logistical details comprehensively, including transportation arrangements and local ordinances.

The Solidarity Meeting concluded with attendees reinvigorated, ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Following the meeting, RSPC officials, alongside coordinators and technical committees, held a press conference with the local media to share their vision and engage with them. This platform aimed to amplify the event’s impact, ensuring its significance reached a broader audience, thereby furthering its influence in regional journalism.

The inaugural ceremony for the 2024 RSPC is scheduled for tomorrow at Dipolog City Sports Complex in Olingan. Following this event, participants will convene at ZNNHS to commence the contest proceedings.
