DIPOLOG CITY, February 29, 2024 – In collaboration with DepEd and LGU Dipolog, the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Dipolog City and Zamboanga del Norte Dental Chapters successfully launched their advocacy campaign on Smoking and Substance Abuse in Relation to Dental Health at the ZaNorte Cultural & Sports Complex.

The campaign, attended by faculty, staff, and learners from ZNNHS, aimed to spotlight the adverse effects of smoking and substance abuse on dental health. Through a series of educational programs and community outreach endeavors, PDA aims to promote healthier lifestyle choices and encourage youth to prioritize their oral well-being.

Leseth Tabiliran RN, LPT, MPH from the City Health Office, delivered the advocacy campaign, elucidating how smoking can lead to gum disease and tooth decay. She also discussed the oral health implications of substance abuse, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices and scheduling routine dental examinations for prevention and early detection of odontological issues.

Dr. Joselito S. Tizon, the school head of ZNNHS, expressed gratitude for the campaign, highlighting its potential to equip students with valuable knowledge about dental health.

This initiative by PDA aligns with the designation of February as Philippine Dental Health Month, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to raising awareness and educating the Dipolognon community about oral health.
