PIÑAN, March 9, 2024 – The Education Support Services Division (ESSD) of DepEd Region IX – Zamboanga Peninsula organized a comprehensive Capacity Building on Sports Medicine, Events Safety, and Nutrition from March 6 to 8, 2024, at Manuels Resort in Piñan. This initiative, as outlined in Regional Memorandum No. 110, s. 2024, aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in these critical areas to enhance the overall well-being of students and ensure the success of sporting events and activities.

The activity brought together non-teaching personnel from various divisions of the region, including nine key individuals from DepEd Dipolog. Through a series of workshops, seminars, and practical demonstrations, participants delved into topics such as sports injury prevention and management, event safety protocols, and nutrition guidelines for student athletes.

The CapB aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of sports medicine principles such as injury prevention and rehabilitation, familiarize them with safety protocols for organizing sports events, and provide knowledge on promoting proper nutrition among student athletes to improve their performance and health.

Throughout the three-day event, participants actively engaged in discussions, hands-on exercises, and simulations to reinforce their learning and practical skills. Experts and guest speakers from relevant fields facilitated sessions, sharing their expertise and insights on the latest developments and best practices in sports medicine, event safety, and nutrition.

The initiative emphasizes Zamboanga Peninsula’s commitment to students’ holistic well-being by equipping staff with essential tools and knowledge for physical and mental health support. Insights gained are expected to positively impact regional sports programs, fostering a safer and nurturing environment for student athletes.
