DIPOLOG CITY, May 9, 2024 — Following an initial Division Training of Trainers, the School-Based Training of Trainers (SBTT) on the MATATAG Curriculum took place from May 2-6, 2024, setting the stage for the upcoming school year. With the academic term drawing to a close, over 400 Dipolognon teachers are gearing up to spearhead the implementation of this innovative curriculum for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, and 7.

Spanning four venues—the Top Plaza Hotel, Top Plaza Pensionne, Miputak Barangay Hall, and the DepEd Division Training Center—the SBTT covered 19 distinct learning areas slated to adopt MATATAG by August. These areas encompass Indigenous Peoples Education, Kindergarten, Grade 1, and all subjects in Grades 4 and 7.

The primary objective of the SBTT is to equip teachers with the essential skills necessary for nurturing our students’ full potential. The training’s content was meticulously crafted to ensure uniformity across all levels of governance—national, regional, division, and individual schools.

As the intensive week-long training drew to a close, untrained teachers were identified for inclusion in the subsequent batch of training sessions scheduled for July. This is in response to the intent of the Department to ensure that all teachers handling the implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum should be well-equipped and ready for school year 2024-2025.
