DIPOLOG CITY, March 4, 2024 – With the call for gender equality and women’s empowerment, the top management and non-teaching personnel of DepEd Dipolog gathered at Olingan Elementary School’s covered court to mark the beginning of a month-long series of activities aimed at recognizing and celebrating the invaluable contributions of women in society.

Amidst a sea of purple-clad attendees, the ceremony was graced by guest speaker, the charismatic storyteller, Hon. Marilou Y. Calibo, Dipolog City Councilor, and head of the education council board.

In her speech, she highlighted the crucial role of DepEd in advancing the advocacy of women’s empowerment through its focus on the child. She emphasized how the love experienced by children, particularly learners at school, can serve as catalysts for positive change.

Hon. Calibo also acknowledged the atmosphere of solidarity and determination as participants pledged to uphold and advance the rights of women in all spheres of life.

The sub-theme for this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration is “Lipunan Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!” complementing the main theme, “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.”

Throughout the month, a series of advocacy-focused activities will take place, culminating on March 24.
