DIPOLOG CITY, February 23, 2024 – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IX conducted an onsite inspection at DepEd Dipolog for a project aimed at benefiting learners inclined towards science.

The project proposal, titled the “DepEd Dipolog Science Centrum,” is included in the pipeline of DOST’s Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Program, which fosters collaboration between the agency and partner organizations to advance science, technology, and entrepreneurship in education.

The proposal, crafted by the former Education Program Supervisor in Science, Dr. Zyhrine P. Mayormita, envisions a transformative educational hub aimed at inspiring, educating, and engaging the community, thus significantly enhancing science instruction and improving learner performance. This project also endeavors to support and enrich science enthusiasts by organizing local events, workshops, and open houses, extending invitations not only to residents of Dipolog but also to those from neighboring municipalities.

The DOST provided positive feedback during the proposal presentation. Engr. Aylene R. Ingkoh praised the proposal’s comprehensiveness and suggested additional inputs to facilitate project approval.

Present at the inspection were DOST IX – ZDN PST Director Mr. Nuhman M. Aljani and colleagues; RTEC Members: Engr. Aylene R. Ingkoh, Engr. Arvic S. Francisco, and Engr. RJ Tabacug; and the RPMO of the agency.

SDS Liza Tabilon also expressed her enthusiasm for the project’s direction. DepEd Dipolog stands to gain greatly from this initiative, bringing together creative and inquisitive learners and igniting their passion for scientific discovery.

The proposed DepEd Dipolog Science Centrum is planned for construction on the first floor of the current DepEd Dipolog Training Center in Miputak. Once approved, the procurement phase will commence.
