DIPOLOG CITY, February 22, 2024 – Today marks the commencement of the Dipolog City Athletics Association (DICAA) Meet, heralding an exciting period of sportsmanship and competition.

The Meet, drawing participation from over 60 public and private schools across the city, promises a display of athleticism as learners engage in various sporting events. Representing districts from East, West, North, South, and private schools, diverse units are set to vie for victory across all 19 sports categories.

In her opening address, Superintendent Ma. Liza R. Tabilon conveyed gratitude, “We owe our gratefulness to our beloved City Mayor for his never-ending support to all constituents, specifically the Department of Education Dipolog City Division.”

Through the allocation from the Special Education Fund, the local government continues its steadfast backing of the Division’s sporting initiatives. Spearheading coordination efforts between DepEd Sports Coordinator, EPSpvr Ronillo S. Yarag, and the LGU, Dipolog City Sports Head, Judge Chandler O. Ruiz, ensures seamless collaboration for the success of the program.

Mayor Uy shared his anticipation for the spirited cheers of the athletes, notably expressing, “Go, go Dipolog! We love Dipolog!” In his enthusiasm, he declared this chant as the official rallying cry for all city-led activities.

DepEd remains resolute in underscoring the significance of the Special Program in Sports, designed to cater to the needs of gifted students across various sporting disciplines and instill in them the essence of sportsmanship.

The DICAA Meet is slated to run until Saturday, February 24.
